Diagnose & repair
We troubleshoot problems at the source and perform practical repairs aboard. The goal is not to replace parts blindly—it is to understand what failed, correct it properly, and leave the system easier to service.
Maintain & prepare
Routine attention protects time on the water. We inspect, exercise, maintain, and prepare vessels so small concerns are more likely to be found at the dock instead of during the next trip.
Install & improve
From a focused installation to a multi-stage refit, we perform upgrades with attention to access, serviceability, and the systems already aboard—not simply the new equipment going in.
Work at the yard
Haul-outs are valuable windows for work that cannot be completed in the slip. We carry out and support approved yard-period work while keeping priorities, findings, and next steps visible.
How the work is handled
Most of the work described on this site is performed personally by Saylor Vann. When a job calls for a different specialty, a vetted contractor is brought in instead of stretching beyond the right fit.
Handled directly
Electrical refits and upgrades including AC and DC distribution, battery and charging systems, panel and wiring replacement, and equipment integration.
Plumbing-system refits including freshwater systems, bilge and utility pumps, hoses, valves, and related onboard equipment.
Specialist trades
Internal engine work, major structural fiberglass, and waterline-up painting are placed with trusted specialists.
Rudders, propellers, struts, shafts, and cutlass bearings are also referred out, with Saylor staying involved when they are part of a larger project.
How pricing works
Some jobs can be handled in a single visit. Others require investigation before the full scope becomes clear.
Routine service, troubleshooting, and smaller repairs are generally billed for time and materials. Larger projects are planned in stages, with the expected work and budget discussed before each stage begins.
